Stepping Into Autumn
It feels a little cliché to say it, but where did Summer go???? I feel like it was just June and I was reflecting on my adventure to Floret Flower Farm, and enjoying all of the Spring and early Summer blooms. Yet somehow here we are mid-September with Fall just about upon us.
While the temperatures and drought conditions are unrelenting, I am aware of the changing light. Mornings are a little bit slower to start, and our evening walks seem to more readily end in darkness. The flowers are deepening in tone with a moody vibe throughout the field. The dahlias are exploding and I cut my first heirloom chrysanthemum, a fall favorite, this week! We are juggling harvesting for fresh and dried offerings, planting for the spring season, and starting to break things down and put them to rest for the winter
The seasonal cadence of the farm has become familiar, and it is actually comforting if I embrace it rather than stressing about everything that we have to do before Thanksgiving. Time flies and seems to be only moving more quickly each year. It is such a good reminder to practice appreciating the moments as we encounter them and practice holding them if only momentarily.
Our online store is stocked with bouquets and dried floral wreaths. Coming soon, more wreaths and our decorated specialty gourds. Our workshops are filling up, and I will announce our December ones soon. Looking forward to seeing you this autumn season!
